How should I transport my wedding dress?
A sturdy suitcase should be used to protect the outfit, as it will likely be placed in the plane’s hold. Contact your airline for further information.
What name should the bride travel under?
You cannot change your name abroad legally, so you we advise that you use your maiden name on both outward bound and returning flights. Any name not matching your passport will void your tickets.
How many days is it recommended to arrive before the wedding?
At least 2 days is recommended. This allows time to speak to your on-site planner etc.
Can we be sure that our wedding date will be available?
Book as far in advance to avoid disappointment. Please see 'YOUR BIG DAY' for further details.
Are the beaches private? And will people on the beach see our wedding?
No, the laws of Barbados mandate that beaches should remain public so there will be people on the beach.
Will the ceremony be conducted in English?
Yes, of course!
How long is the ceremony?
Ceremonies vary greatly in length. Usually they last between 10-20 minutes, though.
Will the wedding planner be present through the proceedings?
It is entirely up to you!
Can we write our own vows?
Yes, of course you can. It’s your special day!
What kinds of ceremonies are available in Barbados?
Civil and religious ceremonies are available and the following are popular venues:ocean-facing, tropical beach, synagogue, church.
When is the ideal time to have the wedding in the day?
Will my marriage be valid in the UK?
Yes. Usually when a wedding is legal in the country it was held, then it should be valid in the UK.
Is gay marriage legal in Barbados?
No. If in a same sex relationship, it is illegal to get married.
Will a marriage certificate be issued before we leave?
In most cases yes, but in some circumstances hotels might ask for a home address so it can be forwarded to you.
